DirtDogg Design has been employed to redesign Action Slovenia’s original website. Meetings have been arranged for this November to discuss their ideas and directions for the new site.

Action Slovenia specialises in fun sports based holidays and tailor holidays in Slovenia to suit everyone’s taste. Anything from sight-seeing and gentle walks in the Alps and the surrounding areas, mountaineering, white water rafting, game fishing, snow boarding, skiing and much more.

New Client: O.B.S. Sales Services Ltd.

O.B.S. Sales Services Ltd. has employed DirtDogg Design to create a new low cost website for their business.

O.B.S Sales Services specialises in the creation, management and closure of sales prospects by comprehensively outsourcing services to either combine existing sales activities and programmes or fully tailored outsourced sales solutions.

DirtDogg Design is currently working with O.B.S. in developing a website specifically tailored to their requirements.

Google Chrome Frame

As a web designer one of my main goals is to try and make sites look and function the same across all browser platforms, whether it be Firefox, Safari, Opera or Internet Explorer. Making this happen though can sometimes be more challenging than it sounds!

Why?…I blame Internet Explorer.

Until recently, with the new release of Internet Explorer 8, Microsoft never really seemed to make the effort in developing Internet Explorer so that it complied to the open web standards. “The Web Standards Project” (WaSP), which was founded in 1998,  works with web browser companies so that their browsers adhere to these web standards.

If you are a normal web surfer this may not seem an issue to you, but being a web designer you may feel differently. My experiences of designing  a websites to be compatible in Internet Explorer and all other popular browsers involves me having to insert various Internet Explorer fixes so that my site would look and function the same in Internet Explorer. I found that if I designed my site to look good and function in Firefox it would then preview in the other web browsers the same, but more than often Internet Explorer would give me a different result. This then resulted in me having to implement fixes/workarounds and in some cases even remove functional code that may reduce the impact of the site or the user experience. Microsoft Internet Explorer still have a strong percentage in the market and you really cannot ignore the importance of your site displaying and functioning correctly in IE.

Well Google has the answer!…Turn Internet Explorer into Google Chrome.

Google Chrome Frame is a Internet Explorer plug-in that brings Google Chrome’s rendering engine to Internet Explorer. This not only takes advantage of Google’s fast and efficient rendering engine but also adds functional capabilities that Internet Explorer currently doesn’t support in it latest version and more importantly older versions. Users will need the plug-in installed to take advantage of it but to get it working in your sites all that is required is a simple meta tag to be put in the header code.

Shaolin Culture Moving To WordPress

Shaolin Culture, a previous client of DirtDogg Design have requested a redesign of their current website. They have requested for the site update to be redesigned in WordPress to take advantage of WordPress’s key features such as self maintenance, plug-ins, blogging, and SEO management.

DirtDogg Design has taken on this task and the redesign is in the development  stages. We would like to thank Shaolin Culture for choosing DirtDogg Design.

Shaolin Culture is a Shaolin Marital Arts school that specializes in Traditional Shaolin Kung Fu and Chen style Tai Chi.

I am proud to present the new website update for DirtDogg Design, proudly powered by WordPress.

I started publishing content on the web 11 years ago when web design was still a niche market. During that time I have worked with many website publishing tools but my favourite has always been Adobe Dreamweaver.  A lot has changed through the years, and the websites that web designers are pumping out now are just amazing. In the days of HTML I must admit I was never a big hand coder. I mainly relied on Dreamweaver creating the code for me but when the usage of div tags combined with CSS became the best practice to manage the layout and content of your sites, I found myself hand coding much more. I also realised how messy the code was when allowing Dreamweaver create the code for you.

For months now I have been hearing and reading about the wonders and advantages of designing a site in WordPress.  To be honest my father caught on to the advantages and possibilities of WordPress very early on, when WordPress was mainly being used for blogging and CMS.

He tried his best to make me aware of this but being quite closed minded at the time and having the attitude that it was best to stick to what I knew so I turned my back on it. Big mistake! So Dad this site is dedicated to you, I am sorry that I did not listen to you earlier.
